Today we celebrated a couple birthdays by going out to our now favorite birthday spot, a restaurant called Club Paradiso. Yesterday was Andrew's birthday, and Sunday is Rachael's, so we went out together.
We always have plenty of fun at this restaurant due to both the delicious food, and it's proprietor, an Italian man named Andrea. He's very fun, and he enjoys being around the customers a lot. He'll walk around humming either the theme song to "The Adams Family" or the melody from the "Mahna Mahna" skit from the Muppet Show.
This was our third time eating there, and we usually get an antipasto (appetizer), a primo piatto (first plate, mostly pasta dishes), and a secondo piatto (usually a meat dish), along with some vino rosso (red wine). Tonight our antipasto was bruschetta with cured ham and a piece of bread with, what I overheard was some sort of liver pâté. Our primo piatto consisted of two dishes; one was fettucini pasta with porcini mushrooms, and a penne pasta dish with pesto and some other delicious things. The secondo piatto had varied pieces of meat, including chicken and some very good sausage. This all was, as usual, joined with some great red wine, and we finished off the dinner with a small glass of espresso.
So, very full and content, we eventually said our goodbyes to Andrea, who was very busy at this point as the restaurant filled up, and we headed out. The evening meal was not quite over yet, however. We had one last thing to take care of... dessert. So we made our way to our favorite gelateria (gelato shop) and got some gelato to top everything off. Buonissimo!
